Hand Lettering Class

I found this cool instagram account called @indoestri. Imagine a warehouse for creative enthusiast and young entrepreneur. Where workshop meets exhibition room, equipped with office spaces and eatery.

After stalling at their instagram page for months I finally have the courage to join one of their classes. They have regular membership workshop such as metal or leather works. They also have 4-5 different guest workshops every month. It’s actually quite hard to decide which class to choose from many interesting classes held every month. I finally fall for Hand Lettering Class. I took this class a couple months ago, yet just have the time to review.

Most of the participants came with experiences in designs and products. I came with courage. Okay. Hand Lettering seems so simple, but it’s kinda hard when you just don’t know where to start.

Meet @lapantigatiga, my tutor of the day. A laid back guy in white t-shirt who had been wowed us the entire time. Looking at his IG page, seems that he had been regularly teaching for this kind of workshop. And have been decorating many cool cafes with his amazing works.

We were equipped with some regular A4 paper sheets, a piece of paper block, a pencil, a ruler, an eraser, a snowman marker and a sakura Micron pen number 02. Sure is fancy tool as you may see in many tutorial may brought up your appetite to start working. But I can say that for starters we can just start with a pencil, ruler & a piece of paper.

I've made some hand lettering ever since, but not anywhere near the mentor haha.

Come & take a peek at their amazing space:

Low Budget Wedding

Wedding.
That One Word That Still Gives Me the Chills

Once you and your partner decide to tie the knot, the real journey begins — not just emotionally, but also financially. But don’t worry, I’m not here to dive deep into the mental prep (that’s a whole different chapter). Let’s skip the heavy stuff and go straight to the fun part: the wedding prep!

Have you ever attended a wedding and felt... kinda out of place? Same here. It happens. Especially at big Indonesian weddings where you show up for a friend, but suddenly find yourself in a room full of unfamiliar faces — mostly parents’ friends, their toddlers, and that one auntie who turns the mic session into a personal concert. All you wanted was to say congrats and maybe catch up with friends — but instead, you're quietly clutching your meal box, hoping someone you know shows up.

That’s why the dream — for many — is a wedding that feels warm, familiar, and not too over the top.
Something simple and intimate.

And if your parents are cool with that and aren’t trying to make the wedding about them? You’ve hit the jackpot. Bonus: a smaller wedding can free up your budget for a dreamy honeymoon somewhere like under the Eiffel Tower. ✨

Is It Possible to Have a Wedding Under 60 Million Rupiah?

Short answer: yes, if you’re open to being practical and creative.
We're not talking about a rushed living-room wedding with rushed catering. You can still go for well-known vendors like Akasya or Umara — but you'll need to set clear priorities.

Let’s simplify things. Here are two wedding concepts you can consider:

Option 1: Ceremony (akad or blessing), ending with pretty meal boxes + thoughtful souvenirs

Option 2: Ceremony followed by a relaxed brunch session

Venue Tips

Your venue sets the tone. You don’t need a ballroom — just something that’s cozy, respectful, and guest-friendly. Places of worship or intimate restaurants can be solid choices.

Masjid Sunda Kelapa, Jakarta
💰 Starts from IDR 3.500.000 – 7.500.000

If you are a moslem, this could be one of the potential venue. There are several parts of the mosque that can be used for wedding ceremony. But if you are planning to have a small ceremony with invitees not more than 200 pax (including spouse), I recommend to check out Serambi Jayakarta. The website stated IDR 5.000.000 as the rent price for the venue. The amount includes: Room & Space for akad, 75 unit of guest chair, make up Room for the bride & groom, Kipas angin, sound System, eception Table, security, cleaning service, pantry & crowd permission for local authorities. Though, watch out for extra charges by having outside catering.

Add additional cost for:
-        Meal Box, with a decent packaging
-        Wedding costume & make up ( including parents’)
-        Documentation photo & video
-        Souvenir

Mangiare Café, Bogor
Starts from 22.800.000 (includes F&B)

Spend more time with family and friends after akad. Choosing a café as wedding venue is pretty wise. They already have the facilities like tables, chair, lamp & cutleries. Many restaurant/cafe don’t charge you for venue rent. Pay only for their food & the service.

Additional cost for:
-        Wedding costume & make up
-        Documentation photo & video
-        Sound system
-        Decoration
-        Souvenir

Identify what you really NEED with what you really WANT.
Some things are just nice to have. Be strong, and start asking if these items are really necessary:
-        Fancy car for bride & groom
-        Designer wedding gowns, you will only wear it once.
-        Photo printing for every guest, they don’t have space for it anymore.
-        Band. You could have beatles’ actual tunes on your wedding. Serve the guest your playlist, with itunes.
-        Hard paper – pop up invitation. Try to remember, is there any invitation that you’ve received ever go to your collection? Right. Go for e-invitation. Send them through mail calendar so you could ask guest confirmation.

This wedding talk could take forever. I will show you a draft budget so you could look closer on every details of a simple wedding budget. Till next time.

Party Favor Supplies

I had many spare times when I was living in Balikpapan. Being a full time PR, turns out did not take that many of my time. It was very quiet, no traffic jam, no fancy boutique nor cool cafes. Thank God for those massage parlors & sidewalk beach I could walk into at anytime.

Well anyway time is all I have now, so I continue my old diversion, browsing on everyone’s favorite online store, etsy and instagram. Yes, Instagram has become a selling platform for many Indonesian sellers.

I found this nice-looking little shop called gudily. The look is effortlessly cool. I fell in love. Their photos are very fresh. Clean and simply appealing to the eyes of any craft junkie.

Straws and paper cups

Designer's washi tapes

Pretty jars
They are selling colorful straw in many different patterns, matchy-matchy with the cups and paper goods. I obviously have a thing for patterns. The store is definitely full of it. Stripes, polka dot, chevron, I melt. Paper-treat-bag and pompoms are available in many colors, bright & pastel. The price is vary. Straws are IDR 35 - 40K. Washi tapes are around IDR 35K.

I expanded my research and found so many fancy party-favors suppliers. I wonder when does this trend is starting? Who started it? Well blessed them, a party have never been this pretty.

Here's some shop you can visit for a straws or a dozen:
